Typically I keep my personal life out of my blog, but some things are too important.
My father passed away on Friday evening, April 22 at 7:30 PM. He has been battling stomach cancer for longer than we knew, since the diagnosis only came in January of this year. We thought Friday would be a day that was going to take a turn for the better, since he was going to have fluid from the cancer (acites) drained from his stomach that day. He was only in the hospital to get re-hydrated and nourished so he could begin his chemotherapy. The draining of the stomach would have made it comfortable to eat again without pain, which would allow him again to nourish himself. But the dehydration led to a large drop in blood pressure, and in turn made it difficult for the kidneys to function. Me and my two sisters all knew my father's wishes, and he was able to speak with us, and reiterate that we let him go. He had a living will and a “do not resuscitate” order, so we could only honor or father.
With the way I feel right now I could write volumes on my father, his life, our friendship, his fight, and my emotions. At the same time, it is extremely difficult to write anything at all.
All are welcome to pay respects at Kurzawa Funeral Home, 338 Main St., South Amboy, NJ, on Tuesday, April 26 from 7-9 PM, and Wednesday, April 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at St. Bernadette's Roman Catholic Church, Parlin, NJ on Thursday, April 28.
